This course prepares students to collect blood for laboratory analysis. Students learn medical terminology, basic anatomy and physiology, infection control safety, and communication and professionalism. Phlebotomy provides opportunities for students to perform routine vein punctures, routine capillary punctures, and special collection procedures. Phlebotomy technicians also perform glucose testing and specimen collection.

This is in keeping with the school’s teaching mission.
It is the responsibility of the MTI of New York teaching program to prepare all students to meet the changing challenges of the profession to aid them in developing their potential.
The MTI of New York Education Program integrates knowledge, attitudes, and psychomotor skills through planned learning experiences for the development of our programs. It is NOT merely a technical training program, designed only to teach a “skill”. The skills of our programs are taught alongside didactic learning (to provide understanding and depth) and affective learning (to provide awareness of attitudes; ability to respond professionally). All three domains of learning are important and achievements in all three are assessed.

The instructional methods used include reading assignments, practice exercises, interactive video/audio lectures, chapter review tests, and final exams. To receive a certificate of completion, students must complete the course within the allotted time frame of (TBD) or less.

MTI of New York accepts applicants of at least 18 years of age when the externship part of their program commences
Applicants must participate in interviews with admissions personnel in-person or via telephone or email. Parents, children, and significant others may also attend interviews and explore MTI of New York facilities to learn about various aspects of the school and ask questions regarding the curriculum and career resources. The interview process also helps school administrators identify qualified applicants. Students are encouraged to apply for admission early to gain admission to specific programs and start dates. MTI of New York may at its discretion deny admission to any applicant if any admission requirements are not completed within the specified timeframe.
Admission to a specific program does not imply that a student is eligible for admission to any other program. Students who wish to apply for other programs must demonstrate their eligibility for those programs when they apply. Students must also comply with selection criteria and procedures for admission to different programs.
HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA OR HIGH SCHOOL EQUIVALENT HSE OR GED
MTI of New York must receive “proof of graduation” from high school, no later than 14 calendar days following the first day of classes. Students are responsible for providing documentary evidence of high school graduation or the equivalent. Acceptable evidence includes an official school transcript, an official college transcript if the student has completed an associates’ degree, or military documentation that identifies the student’s high school, the school’s location, and the student’s graduation date.
Students who lack proof of graduation or the equivalent should fill out a High School Transcript Request form; the form is available from the Admissions Department, and the completed form should be submitted to the Admissions Department. Additional evidence may be requested from students to demonstrate proof of graduation.
Students lacking proof of graduation or the equivalent will be referred to ATB/GED Dept. Students whose enrollment is canceled will not be granted academic credit or grades earned before cancellation.

Initial Down Payment of 20% with 8 payments until the balance is paid. Payments are due on the dates indicated on the student’s payment plan. Payments can be made in person, or over the phone. Personal checks, and major credit cards/debit cards are accepted.
A late fee of $30.00 will be charged for payments received after the due date. A fee of $50.00 will be charged for returned checks.

State Refund Policy as Required by Section 5002 of the Education Law of New York State
Many times a student finds that the original schedule, under which he/she enrolled, is no longer practical or desirable. A different schedule of the same program may have a different refund policy. If the school changes the student’s schedule, the refund policy of the new schedule will be that which is in effect for the student. If a new schedule is approved, an enrollment agreement for the new schedule must be completed in full and attached to the original enrollment agreement.
Total tuition liability is limited to the term during which the student withdrew or was terminated plus any terms previously completed. Tuition liability is calculated as of the student’s last day of physical attendance. The percentage of training completed and the resulting refund due will be calculated independently for each term. The application fee is non-refundable. Please refer to your enrollment agreement for the definition of a term for your program.
For Programs over 1600 hours, total tuition liability is limited to the quarter during which the student withdrew or was terminated plus any quarters previously completed. Tuition liability is calculated as of the student’s last day of physical attendance. The percentage of training completed and the resulting refund due will be calculated independently for each quarter. The application fee is non-refundable. The school shall evenly divide the total tuition charges for the academic year among the number of quarters. After instruction is begun in a school, if a student withdraws or is discontinued, the school may retain no more than:
The failure of a student to notify the school director in writing of a withdrawal may delay the refund of tuition due pursuant to Section 5002 of the Education Law of New York State.
A student who cancels within 7 days of signing the enrollment agreement begins receives all monies returned with the exception of the non-refundable registration fee.
